Recorder of Deeds


The Recorder of Deeds office will be closed on Monday, January 18th, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and working remotely Tuesday, January 19th and Wednesday, January 20th, 2021, due to COVID-19 related concerns. We will continue to accept documents for recording via mail, FedEx, UPS, and through eRecording. We are tentatively scheduled to reopen to the public on Thursday, January 21st, 2021, should conditions allow. Please check back on our website and/or social media for any further updates.

General Information

The Recorder of Deeds office is the public repository for numerous legal documents including real estate records, military discharges, commissions and other official documents. The Chester County Recorder of Deeds has a long history of faithfully serving the residents of this County since 1688. Our current Recorder is Chris Pielli, Esq. who was elected Chester County Recorder of Deeds in November 2019 and sworn into office in January 2020.  

Chris is a longtime resident of Chester County. He has served the public and his community as a West Goshen Township Supervisor, a soldier in the U.S. Army, a volunteer summer school teacher in Philadelphia through the Teach for America program, a Chester County Correctional Officer and Correctional Counselor, a Chester County Public Defender, a Chester County Court appointed counsel for guardianship matters, and a Program Coordinator for the Chester County OIC Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program.

Chris is a Temple University graduate with a B.A. in Political Science. After his service in the U.S. Army, Chris attended Temple University School of Law and earned his J.D. degree. Chris is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey. He has successfully completed the Pennsylvania Municipal Planning Education Institute courses in Zoning and Community Planning. As a Township Supervisor, he served as Chairman of the Board of Supervisors and Chairman of the Comprehensive Plan Task Force Committee in addition to Board liaison member to the Planning Commission and the Parks & Recreation Committee.

Chris’ initiatives include expanding and improving the Veteran’s ID program, protecting our Seniors and most vulnerable citizens against Real Estate Fraud and Theft by implementing effective, proactive safeguards and protective measures, and modernizing office procedures to ensure more accessible and affordable service to all residents. Chris attributes his success to the strong support of his wife of 24 years, Christine, and their two children.
